The Nuro Driver™ is always improving in keeping with our core company value to be 1% better every day. Our October release shows smoother acceleration and deceleration, expanded object detection range and even better lane changes. Read on for all of the details.

Exciting New Features & Model Improvements

• Smoother driving: We’ve implemented a new learned model that improves our driving trajectories, resulting in smoother deceleration at stop signs and faster acceleration on high-speed roads. This increases our human-like driving performance by over 15%.
• More efficient tracking: Through selective tracking of agents that might interact with us, we’ve boosted the efficiency of our Nuro Driver™. Key results include a notable reduction in computational demand and a 98% decrease in latency spikes.
• Perception improvements: We’ve​ expanded our object detection range by 13%, boosting our ability to handle high-speed roads and busy scenes.

• Refined lane changes: Our lane change logic is now more intelligent, improving lane change behavior when approaching intersections.
• Platform tuning: We’ve fine-tuned our braking controls, achieving a 95.4% improvement in longitudinal controls performance.
• Better decision-making: We deployed a new, more comprehensive framework for validating that the various plans under consideration are safe.
• Longer distances: By adjusting our route policies and reducing the computational load, we’ve doubled the maximum distance for a single journey.
