最新ニュース! Breaking news!

In the coming weeks, we’re excited to bring vehicles from our U.S. test fleet to Japan — marking Nuro’s first international data collection initiative and an exciting next step in scaling the Nuro Driver™.

Just as we did during last year’s data collection tour across 59 U.S. cities, this effort is designed to improve our AI model broadly by deepening our understanding of traffic dynamics locally.

Japan’s roads are known for their complexity and distinct characteristics, including:

  • Vehicles drive on the left-hand side of the road
  • Densely packed urban corridors and narrow residential streets
  • Unique driving behaviors and cultural traffic norms

Each presents an opportunity for the Nuro Driver to broaden the environments it understands and navigates — an essential step in building a truly generalizable autonomy stack. When combined with our other training data sources, this new effort accelerates our mission to develop a safer, more capable autonomous system. The data we gather will strengthen our technology for future partner deployments across the globe.

As we begin this new chapter, we look forward to working closely with policymakers, regulators, first responders, and local communities. Safety has always been our top priority. Our experience — including over 1.2 million autonomous miles driven without an at-fault incident, and more than four years of Level 4 autonomous vehicles deployments without a safety driver on public roads — shape how we approach every new location: with care, collaboration, and a deep respect for the communities where we operate.

Whether on the streets of the U.S. or Japan, our goal remains the same: to deliver safe, intelligent autonomy for all roads and all rides. Stay tuned for updates as our international journey begins.
