Diane Dietz, Nuro's newest board member

Nuro’s mission to better everyday life through robotics has attracted extraordinary thinkers with a broad spectrum of talent. We’re excited to share that another bright mind has joined our team: Diane Dietz has joined Nuro’s Board of Directors.

Dietz brings with her a legacy of leadership in the consumer products, beauty, and retail sectors and currently serves on Whirlpool’s Board of Directors. She is the former former president and chief executive officer of Rodan & Fields, and served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Safeway, a leading grocery retailer.

Additionally, Dietz was the vice president and general manager of Procter & Gamble’s oral care business where she oversaw all aspects of the business, including sales, sourcing, marketing, manufacturing, quality control, supply chain, R&D, market research, and HR functions.

Dietz’s strong leadership skills and record of fostering collaborative relationships makes her an ideal addition to Nuro’s Board of Directors.

What interested you in Nuro?

Nuro’s mission resonates with me. I believe their zero-occupant approach to autonomous vehicles is the right way to fundamentally improve our communities. After spending seven years at Safeway running our .com efforts, it’s clear to me that Nuro is a solution for many different consumer businesses — from grocery delivery and small parcels to Rx and meal delivery. And I’m excited that Nuro will have a positive impact on the environment with zero-emission vehicles. This is a truly impactful solution that we really need.

Why do you think Nuro can be part of a better future for local commerce?

Local commerce hasn’t been able to rise to the rate of change in customer expectations, transportation, and logistics. In many industries, we’re facing shortages of workers, overcrowded roads, and rising costs to deliver goods. Nuro can have a positive impact on all of these challenges.

How do you approach board membership for a company like ours?

As the first independent board member, I am focused on helping the founders achieve their mission. We will partner together to add more board members, accelerate growth, assess strategies, and provide governance to the company. I’m excited to work with Dave and JZ!

Where do you expect to be involved?

Given my background in retail, marketing, digital, and supply chain, those are the logical areas in which I hope to add value. In my most recent role as CEO, I have found that board members who are true partners and sounding boards had the biggest impact, so I’m planning to emulate those qualities.

Nuro is looking forward to Diane serving on our Board of Directors. Her background and expertise will be great assets to our business as we continue our path towards bettering everyday lives through robotics. We’re excited she’s on our team and are looking forward to working with her as we work to scale our technology across the country.
