Nuro, Inc. values your privacy, and this Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your information. This Policy covers information we collect when you visit our website or register for and use our delivery service, through either our webpage or mobile application. This Policy does not cover information collected related to employees, affiliates, suppliers, or other third parties.

Information Collection

We collect information you provide us when signing up for our delivery service. For example, when you sign up, you provide us information such as your delivery address, name, and email address. If you order delivery services from us, we’ll collect information such as your order details (for example, to determine the items and quantities you would like delivered), phone number (to notify you of the delivery time or any exceptions), credit card information (to pay for your order), birth date (for alcohol orders, where available), store loyalty card information (to apply discounts or earn rewards), and delivery address (if different from when you signed up). You may also choose to provide us feedback on your experience, and Nuro may allow you to upload content (such as recipes, lists, text, images, or videos). We also collect your email address if you signup through our website to receive periodic updates on our service.

If you order through the websites of one of our retail partners, they may share information with us such as your name, delivery address, and order details to enable us to deliver your goods. The privacy policies of our retail partners govern how and under what circumstances they will share data with us; if you are ordering through a retailer’s website, you may wish to review their privacy policy to understand how they use and share your data.

As is true of most websites and apps, Nuro’s website and app collects certain information automatically and stores it in log files for security, maintenance, and analytics purposes. The information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, the region or general location where your computer or device is accessing the internet, browser type, operating system and other usage information about the use of Nuro’s website and app, including a history of which pages within Nuro’s website you view. We use this information to design our site to better suit our users’ needs. We may also use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our website and app, analyze trends, and track visitor movements.

Nuro works with service providers to provide its website. Nuro and these services use cookies, which are small files that are stored on and sent by your device when you access our service. Nuro and our service providers may use session cookies (which are destroyed when you close your app or web browser) or persistent cookies (which you can choose to delete from your device or computer). Nuro and our service providers use cookies to enable the functionality of the webpage (for example, ensuring a pop-up does not appear repeatedly), provide fillable forms, and provide analytics services, which help us understand the number of visitors and how visitors use the webpage and app. By using your browser settings, you may block cookies or adjust settings for notifications when a cookie is set. Your interactions with the service providers are governed by their terms of service.

Nuro is developing a service to provide deliveries using autonomous vehicles. Nuro’s autonomous and mapping vehicles use sensing systems, including cameras and microphones, to perceive objects and environmental conditions, enabling safe operation. The vehicles “see” and “hear” their environment in much the same manner as the driver of a regular, passenger vehicle would, and so these sensing systems may incidentally capture images or sounds that include users of the service. The data collected by these sensing systems is logged, and used to operate the vehicle and provide customer support, and to improve driving performance and customer experience.

If you allow us access to your location through your device permissions, we may collect this information during an order and delivery for the purpose of providing deliveries to a convenient location. You may choose whether to provide us your location; if you choose not to provide us access to your location, we will deliver based on your provided delivery address, which in some cases (such as a large apartment complex) may be further from your device’s location. Most devices allow you to deactivate location sharing in the settings menu; please contact your device manufacturer if you would like more information on how to control location sharing.

We keep your data for only as long as it is needed to complete the purpose for which it was collected or as required by law. Nuro is based in the United States and the information we collect is governed by US law.

Use and Sharing of Your Information

We use the information you provide to:

  • Fulfill your order, including contacting you to confirm we received your order or to update you on progress, and allowing our drivers and autonomous vehicles to deliver your goods to you

  • Process order payments

  • Provide customer service, including contacting you with regards to issues or questions with your order or answering questions from you regarding your order

  • Market our current or new services to you, including offering you customized content (such as advertising, coupons, and promotions)

  • Share, with your permission, content you upload such as recipes or lists

  • Understand how users interact with our service and collect feedback to improve our service

If you provide a referral for our service, we will share some information with the person you referred us to, such as your name, phone number, and email address.

We may share your information with third parties as necessary to provide the services for which you sign up. To enable us to purchase and deliver your order, we may share your information, for example, with a payment processing company that processes credit card payments, and we may share your contact information, loyalty numbers, and order details with the contractors that we work with to pick, pack, and, in some cases, deliver your orders. With our retail partners, we may share what you ordered, your loyalty number, and delivery specifics such as the time of order and time of delivery for the purpose of fulfilling orders, enabling you to earn loyalty rewards, improving our service, or helping them improve their service. To run our website and administer our business, we also may share information on how you use our website (for example, the amount of traffic at different times of day) with web analytics, data processing, or similar service providers. We also may share aggregate and anonymized information on our service with third parties to analyze our business and demonstrate progress to, for example, retail partners or prospective investors.

We may also share your information when we believe that the disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal process, or requests from law enforcement or regulatory authorities; prevent, detect, or otherwise handle fraud, security, or technical issues; or protect the safety, rights, or property of any person, the public, or Nuro.

Children’s Information

Nuro’s services are not available to children under the age of 13, nor are they intended for use by anyone under the age of 13.  A valid credit card is required to place an order on our system. If you are a parent or guardian of a child under the age of 13 and believe he or she has disclosed personal information to us, please contact us at privacy@nuro.ai. You can request to review the information we collected and request that we delete the child’s personal information. If we obtain actual knowledge that any information we collect has been provided by a child under the age of 13, we will delete that information.

Changes to this Policy

This policy may change from time to time and any revised Privacy Policy will be posted at this page, so we encourage you to review it regularly. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of this Privacy Policy and, in the case of materials changes to the Privacy Policy, we may provide you with additional notice (such as a notice in our user interface or sending you a notification by email). By continuing to access and/or use the service after the effective date of a revised Privacy Policy, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
